Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to find out how the height and length effect the mechanical advantage on the incline plane.

Introduction: An incline plane is a simple machine that consists of a sloping surface, such as a ramp, that reduces the amount of force needed to lift something by increasing the distance over which the force is applied. The following steps that will be shown next are how this lab proves that the incline plane can help the force if needed by increasing the height, but keeping the length the same. The hypotheses of this lab is that the force will be increased as the height of the incline plane increases. The independent variable of this lab is the length and the car we used for the lab. The dependent variable is the height and the force because a dependent variable is a factor that changes as a result of changing in the other variables. The constant and control of this lab are the length and the height.

Procedure: The first thing was starting off with measuring the board for the incline plane, then attached the spring scale to the string witch is attached to the metal car to get our force. Do three trials but with seven different incline planes. The y-intercept of the lab would be the force and the x-intercept of this lab is the height .

Safety Hazards: Some of the safety hazards would be that a car fell off during a trial and broke( almost happened). Another safety hazard could be that the incline plane could have slipped and fell onto the floor hurting someone. The spring scale breaking, and many more that could happen to anyone, even Athena.

Results: See graph and table attached.
