Jubei Yagyu

Jubei Yagyu was a young 24 year old Samurai that lived in Japen in the year 1600. Jubei was the son of Munenori Yagyu, a warlord a masterful swordsman and a great teacher. Jubei was a swordsman who never lost a duel and when challanged was thought by his father to be commiting murder. Juebi was warned by his father that if he commited murder again outside of wartime he would be treated like a enemy, and he did. Munenori wanted to teach Juebi that he had a choice on whether or not he had to kill a man that challanged him and did so by throwing a metal dart into his sons left eye. This in turn showed Juebi that he could have disabiled his challanger instead of killing him.

I believe that both Munenori and Juebi were right in how they believed what they were doing was right. Munenori didn't think that murdering a man was right unless it was during wartime. He believed that a man could fight and hurt a man and not kill them and the same message would get accross. Jubei was simply defending himself and didn't know how else to fight without killing. Even though he hated killing another person, this is how he was taught and how he was raised, fight to kill. I think had his father taught him when he was younger there were other ways to defend himself instead of just killing then the warning he gave his son would have been taken more seriously and he wouldn't have need to teach him a lesson by treating him like a enemy.

I feel that I can relate better to Jubei. Jubei was a young man who's duty under the shogun system was to go to war when his father commanded him to. In 1600, when Samuari clans battled, there were no survivors and everyone was killed deliberatley. This is what Juebi knew, this is what he was taught. He didn't know how to fight to disable or fight to harm, he only knew how to fight to kill. When a person is raised a ceratin way, to them that is the only way.

After Jubei and his fathers dissagreement, Jubei left his home in the Edo...
