Separate Schools

With the different cultures, religion, and the belief that genders learn at different ages due to the development of the brain, is putting your children in a co-ed school education of males and females in the same school, more useful than putting them in a school with only their gender? Education has gone through many different changes during centuries of our lives, usually good ones, including improving students’ curriculum in school, how a professor teaches a subject, and how knowledge is being passed. There are many opinions on whether or not boys and girls should be attending separate school systems. Having the separation of boys and girls in separate schools is a situation for discussion in many countries. In the article Boys and girls learn differently written by Patti Ghezzi he tells us how boys and girls development of the brain thinks in different ways.

“Not all kids fit the pattern, but boys tend to learn better when they have pictures, graphics, and physical movement to help them grasp concepts. Girls often benefit from the opportunity to talk about how to solve a problem and work with others on a solution.”(Paragraph 2)

Reading about this topic and seeing both points of views I strongly believe that boys and girls should be in co-ed schooling. With today’s generation boys and girls have a wide variety of knowledge in many fields. Education does not only help students keep them informed about academics, but also about things like books, for example in an English class because boys and girls have different perspective with certain situations with a text book or novel it’s good to hear their views because males and females do see things very differently sometimes.
