Diversity in the American Landscape

The show “Everybody Hates Chris” revolves around the teenage years of Chris Rock. Chris considers himself a normal teenager, but thinks that he is surrounded by people who for some unknown reason dislike or even hate him. Chris lives in Brooklyn, New York in the low-income Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, but attends an all white school in the fictional Brooklyn Beach neighborhood where he is the only black student and unknown to his parents, is picked on by students and teachers. Another stereotype in the show is the idea that many of the families on the block where Chris lives are single parent homes with the father missing. Chris’ family seems to be the only two parent home....
