Course Overview: The objective of the course is to introduce students to the energy assets and commodities: oil, natural gas, petroleum refining products, coal, NGL, electricity, as well as carbon allowances and weather derivatives. The fundamentals driving supply / demand, the functioning of the markets, the structured products (futures, options, and swaps), risk management, compliance, and various trading strategies will be discussed. Ideally, after taking this course, you will be familiar with much of the key body of knowledge included in the Energy Risk Professional (ERP) curriculum as administered by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).
