A woman CEO of Fortune 500

Virginia Marie "Ginni" Rometty was born in July 1957. She is an American business executive. She is now the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of IBM. Mrs. Rometty was appointed President and CEO effective January 1st 2012. She became Chairman of the Board of Directors on October 1st 2012. She is the ninth CEO and the first woman CEO in IBM. She was ranked No.15 on Forbes magazine's "World's 100 Most Powerful Women".

Virginia Rometty holds a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors in computer science and electrical engineering from Northwestern University. Mrs. Rometty began her career with IBM in 1981 in Detroit, Michigan. Since then she has held a series of leadership positions in IBM, most recently as Senior Vice President and Group Executive, IBM Sales, Marketing and Strategy. In this role, she was responsible for business results in the global markets in the world. From the above information, it’s not hard to see that Mrs. Rometty is a clever and capable woman. In our society, women like her are not infrequent, but why they don’t have chances to show to the world?

According to many studies, women have better communicating and judging skills than men. When a team is making a decision, women leaders always have the most accurate and careful judgments. So, sometimes women are more adaptive to be leaders. Although now in China, or even the world, most leaders are men. Why does this situation happen? Most women think they are weaker than men and people have already adapted the patriarchy. To change this phenomenon, and to protect the rights, women are trying to reach a higher position in workforce, they are going to success. About Mrs. Rometty, it is so refreshing to see these pioneers of female equality and empowerment, women that we can look up to and say that we want to be just like her.
