In the following, I will explain the benefits of an intranet and suggest different ways that Dirt Bikes can reduce cost, increase employee productivity, increase manufacturing and production efficiency, and provide employees with a comprehensive support structure to provide Dirt Bikes’ customers with the best possible service.

A company intranet provides many valuable resources such as inter-department communications. The benefit that an intranet provides a company like Dirt Bikes, from a sales and marketing standpoint, is the ability to know how much product is available, where it is located, the cost to sell the product, and when the product will be completed from a production standpoint. The company intranet also provides sales persons with a detailed listing of contacts phone numbers, email addresses and the customer’s physical address.

When it comes to human resources, an intranet can provide valuable information about company policies, job openings, promotions and any other information that is important and relevant to all Dirt Bikes employees. By installing the intranet Dirt Bikes can keep employees informed and up-to-date on all the information that an employee may need to do their job.

Manufacturing and production can be ran more smoothly with an intranet. The intranet allows manufacturing to see when an order is placed for all customers and can build the bikes specific to the orders. The intranet can provide Dirt Bikes with the information needed to also keep a proper amount specific parts in stock. This reduces overstocking and ultimately saves the company money on excessive parts on hand and aged inventory.

Two other tools that I may suggest that Dirt Bikes incorporate are, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephone lines, and a VPN (Virtual Private Network). By using these 2 additional tools, Dirt Bikes can save money and increase profit margins. The next few...
