Abstract

In this paper I will demonstrate my understanding of factors that should be considered in policy development to ensure that legal requirements are met and that best practices in management are applied to court management. I will answer a few questions in this assignment. I will tell how a court system cope with a “changing of the guard” when a new administration is elected and key executives and managers are replaced, and/or when policy changes direction as a new political party assumes power. I then will address how a new legal interpretation resulting from a court’s decision on an existing law related to court procedures, and how does the passage of a new law affect court administration. The last question I will address is what kind of management best practices would I, as a court administrator, implement to ensure appropriate levels of continuity, efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness when significant changes occur that impact the court system.

A court system can cope differently in many ways depending on the change of guard. When a change like this occurs other things will change shortly after especially if it’s a change that will affect something as important as a judicial office law or elected official spot that a new individual could have just filled. It is hard for some people to except change.

Individuals conform to a certain way of doing things after it has been done a particular way after a long period of time. Some people aren’t good adapting to change but some change is good.
