Friar Laurence Interview

1. Q: What do you think about Romeo and Juliet getting married?

A: I think that this is a crazy idea because I thought that Romeo was in love with Rosaline and Juliet came up out of nowhere. I do approve this marriage. It was love at first sight. I think that the marriage of a Capulet and a Montague that are truly in love will put an end to this feud between the families.

2. Q: What is your role in the life of Romeo and Juliet?

A: I would say that I play a big role in the life of Romeo and Juliet. I proposed their marriage and I made plans for them to find ways to see each other. I also made the big plan when Juliet’s father, Lord Capulet, changed his mind about her getting married. This was very difficult because it was a lot of pressure on me. It was all up to me because Juliet would’ve killed herself. I kind of knew this wasn’t going to turn out well, but I did what I could.

3. Q: Do you think that this whole situation would be different if you were not involved?

A: Yes, because I don’t think they would’ve been able to get married and then all this wouldn’t have happened. Also, I wouldn’t have been in this towards the end when they are both dead. It was a big thing because I was one of the only one who knew about the whole situation and it may seem like I am to blame.

4. Q: Why didn’t you tell Juliet and Romeo that this situation wasn’t going to turn out well?

A: I kind of wanted to tell them but I honestly thought that it would end the feud while they were still alive. The plan was supposed to work but the complications made it difficult to make it happen. If only the letter to Romeo telling him about the plan was delivered; Juliet and Romeo would have happily been together in love. Unfortunately this did not happen.

5. Q: Do you think that Romeo and Juliet had anything to offer once there burst of love calmed down?

A: I don’t think much would have happened. I think that the feud of...
