Articles in newspaper pertain to certain people whether it be a primary or secondary reader of that section everyday which is referred to as audience analysis. After reading some articles in the Sports section of the New York Times I found a couple articles that had a primary audience it was directed toward. One section in the paper was titled Men’s College Roundup which was a summary of the scores in very important college basketball games and also provided information on any players that are currently injured. Another article was titled NBA Roundup focused on the same thing providing sports fans with scores from around the league and a quick sum of how the game went along with any players who were injured or had breakout games. The primary audience of these two articles would be directed more toward men and women of all ages and is not specific to any race or social class because of how the format of the article is and the knowledge that basketball is predominantly watched by young avid sports fans. On the other hand there is a Sports Briefing article which summarizes all the top stories in the sports world whether golf, football, soccer, baseball or basketball. I believe that this sections primary audience is directed toward any sports fan whether it be a man or women because it displays stories about your country and how they are doing in sports as well as other sports. All together I believe the sports section of the NY Times is directed toward men but also have a secondary audience of women who also enjoy reading about these articles.
