I. TIME CONTEXT
Contemporary time, age of modern technology and computerization.
II. VIEWPOINT
The company is in a situation wherein they have to cope with the demand of a service business (banking services) that requires a round the clock computer operation. Primary concern is the manning of the shifting schedule that will put operators working at odd hours, which is the primary cause of complaints.
III. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
The constant complaint in the shifting schedule which resulted in the high quit-rate of computer operators. The inability of the company to recruit and select qualified and committed employees. The lack of concerns on the part of management as to the well being of their operators.
IV. STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES:
1. To remedy the high turnover rate of computer operators.
2. To design a work schedule that will be acceptable to all the operators.
3. To ensure commitments among newly hired employees.
V. AREAS OF CONSIDERATIONS:
A. Within the organization:
They provide good pay to the operators. The internal environment is good, employees are accommodating, and these factors are the strong points of the organization.
The alarming high quit-rate of employees (computer operators) that could not speak well of the organization. The challenge of which is how can the company able to identify the root cause.
There ought to be a review of the organization’s staffing procedure as it seems that what they hire are not that committed to the company.
A total redesign of the schedule that will fit to all concerns to eliminate constant complaints and ensure longevity of their stay with the company.
