Lab Report
1. May we trench across the street? Yes, as long it follows the Cities right-of-way requriements.
2. Who issues the permit for this work? The Department of Engineering Services.
3. Must we submit construction plans to the city? Yes, two sets of plans must be submitted.
4. Once the permit is issued, how long must we wait before commencing work? Once the permit is issued, we will wait a minimum of 48 hours before commencing work.
5. How deep must the cable be buried? The cable must be buried at a minimum of 42 inches.
6. What are the compaction requirements for restoration of any surface that is trenched? Backfilling and compaction of all trenches must be performed on a daily basis or proper protection in accordance to the requirements of Occupational Safety and Health Administration shall provide. All trenches shall be leveled.
7. Is the company we hire to do the work required to be registered in any way? Yes, they have be registered with the Department of Engineering Services and have a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity authorized by Chapter 13 of the Texas Water Code, have a franchise or license agreement with the City, have an interlocal agreement, or otherwise be permitted by the State law to operate facilities with in a public right-of-way.
8. What is a right-of-way? A right-of-way is a legal right, established by usage or grant, to pass along a specific route through property belonging to another.
9. When is interference with traffic flow allowed? Work may not interfere with traffic during the hours of 7:00A – 8:30A and 4:30P – 6:00P Monday through Friday. Only if The Director waives these requirements upon a finding of good cause shown by the permittee or public service provider are we allowed to interfere with traffic flow.
