Self-Reflection

As a college student, one of most important thing is to get ready for step into workforce. Gardner’s "an overview of the five minds of the future" describes five important minds that people will need if they want to succeed in this and coming eras. This passage will tell some of my thoughts after careful reading and analyze the five minds. The description will be separated into three parts.

Firstly, I think respectful and ethical minds are the basis of good social activities. Having respectful mind, based on the Gardner’s point of view, which means we could both keep our own views or beliefs and make efforts to understand others. At this point, I think this is a good communication way to get along with each other especially for those who need a good social network. For example, as an international student, I have tried to integrate into the new living environment through study indigenous cultures and actively participate in the social activities, and it has brought me a lot of friends and a well part-time job. So, we might strengthen adaptive capacity and create a better social intercourse with respect mind. Moreover, the wider vision is that we could have ethical mind. For this point, Gardner is not only advocate people to think about their own social responsibilities in moral level, but also trying to get people to think about their own professional roles in society needs. It requires get familiar with the mutual relationship between each domains, then people could think beyond their own professional area to cater the requirements of other fields. What’s more, when the career orientation is not only confined to individual needs, people will find that there are more choices. Perhaps having these two minds are unlikely master a technology which is able to bring real income or good test score for us immediately, but they have lifelong importance and need longer time to think and cultivate.
