Evaluating Eligibility Rules

It is important to understand the purpose of eligibility rules, especially in the human service field. The reason for having rules for eligibility is as simple as trying to find the best way to use limited resources for large numbers of people in need. Eligibility rules make up a guideline to determine who qualifies for the benefits and who does not. If there was an infinite amount of resources, eligibility rules would not be necessary

Eligibility rules can differ from one agency to the next depending on the types of benefits that are provided and the amount of resources available. They could also be more or less strict when there are a lot of people applying for the benefits. Those are just a few things that influence eligibility rules to help better explain why rules are put in place in order to successfully deliver benefits to those who need it.

The agency that I have been covering is the Christian Clinic. It is a faith based organization that as far as I can tell with all the research and personal knowledge that I have of it, it is a pretty successful and charitable human service provider to over 12,008 different patients (Smith, 2014). This agency provides a number of different services such as many types of support groups and counseling services. Apart from that they offer medical care and assistance, dental, and eye care.

It is important to keep in mind that the organization is privately funded and services provided by persons are all volunteers who donate their time and resources. This would be why the eligibility rules will be strict so that the targeted people with the most needs can be provided for with what the agency can offer based on time and resources.
