Introduction

During the last decade or so organizations and well as the environments they live in have emerged ten-fold. Years ago the manufacturing industry was strong and had a competitive advantage. Now manufacturing plants aren’t as widespread as they use to be. That leaves the plants in countries that had developed in poor shape and with technology so advanced it has made big transformations in recent years but has left a lot of countries in dire straits. The greatest challenge today for organizations is to know how to adapt to the new challenges out here and to find the best structure so that they can survive in the 21st century. Organizations have to be able to interact with the outside, not only with their customers but also be able to interact with suppliers as well as their competitors. Competitive strategies and innovations can only be created through collaboration and to do that, organizations have to have working relationships with the outside environment. My paper will examine to what degree the organization that was interviewed measures up to a learning and high performance organization by taking on the system theory and the Star Model. My paper also interprets the relevance of the Thinking Habits of Heart, Mind and Imagination and the New Business Realities to the interview process. Lastly, recommendations are suggested as to how the organization may be able to further improve performance by improving the reward system, processes and its organizational structure....
