Being an American means living here in The United States of America and having the opportunity to be the person I choose to be. Meaning I can choose the school I attend, the job I want and I'm not forced to work long hours with little wages for a job I hate.I have the freedom of speech to have my voice heard to build the most desirable environment .We are a multi-cultural society with not one set of religion or culture.I can walk down the street and run into a person who might enlightened me with a different view on life. My plan for the future is to go to college and even though I am not some billionaire able to pay my way to college the government will give me loans and grants to make sure I go to college. With a college degree I can make my way to the top and maybe one day be a billionaire helping aspiring students get to college. We live in a democratic country to make sure a totalitarian will not come along and try to control our everyday lives I watch the news and see poor families starving on the streets while leaders push them around, they don't even give out a helping hand. Our country runs millions of soup kitchens for the less fortunate to ensure no one will starve. The government has millions of programs such as welfare to give money for food, to pay rent and sometimes they help find housing for families. When your little a question your always asked is “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and obliviously set aside the childish dreams like tooth fairy or dinosaur , you really can be anything you wish to be.The United States of America is the land of opportunity.
