What cultural factors must U.S. sports franchises overcome to increases popularity abroad? Why?

Since there are many different cultures around the world, US sport franchises must prior to considering what cultural factors to overcome, actually pick a specific culture. For instance, the Muslim world has numerous limitations as to female activities, especially unveiling them, so it will be close to impossible for the US sport franchises to overcome Islamic cultural factors and increase popularity of female swimming, aqua aerobics, running, tennis, gymnastics, etc, without rewriting the Muslim holy book of Koran(Walton, 2005). Other countries, such as a larger part of Africa, have no cold weather and not enough resources to transport icebergs (like United Arab Emirates did in the past) or produce enough snow to physically create facilities for skiing, skating and other winter sports. So again, these cultures simply neglect winter sports and no matter what US sports franchises do, one cannot expect the popularity of winter sports to grow in Nigeria, Niger, Zambia, Zanzibar, or Sudan. There are also countries that lack water resources, thus being unable to effectively embrace water sports (rowing, swimming etc). If one speaks only about some mainstream sports like soccer, basketball, American football, baseball or boxing the franchises should first engage in typical marketing campaigns, illustrating the advantages of such sports (affordability, versatility) and supplement the message with quality advertising, best shots, medals and competitions. The next step is to contribute to the appropriate infrastructure, tutoring and coaching available to most potential participants at affordable prices.
