THE IMPORTANCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY

In the Army accountability is everything, from gear, to documents, to people, and our selves.

The Importance of Accountability Is so you know where everyone is so if you need a person for something you will know where to find them. It is also necessary to have accountability to make sure everyone in your unit is safe and so you make sure they are where they are supposed to be. You also want your unit to be on standby so they are ready for anything that may happen. When you have accountability it is easier to track down people if you were to need them for anything.

Being accountable means being dependable, showing up to work and to appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being at the right place and at the right time and doing the right thing in the right uniform. It is also to see if everyone showed up to work or where they are supposed to be. Accountability is not only for keeping track of other people it can also be for keeping track of money, gear, legal documents, and many other things. The reason you would want to keep track of money is so if there is ever a time where a lot of money goes missing you would be able to look at the accounts transactions.

Also a sign in/out sheet is used at the barracks, so whenever anyone goes somewhere they would have to sign out of that sign in/out sheet. And also the buddy system is a good way to find out where someone would be. I usually make it my personal goal to help out my roommate and other battle buddies. I know that some of my battle buddies have a hard time getting up in the morning so I help them out by telling my roommate that it’s time to get up and go to PT or work. And lately I’ve been knocking on my battles door to wake him up to go to PT or work.
