The Drawbacks of Technology Today

“What your boss knows could hurt you…” Today’s world is forgetting the boundaries of electronics and must be reminded before it’s built more digitally than physically. We need to help people remember their limitations with electronics and everything else not personally communicated. This is because online lives may portray a different story than a job life, electronics secure safety behind the screen and many misinterpret the idea of technology. Little do people consider that this information could be crucial to their everyday lives and their future and we need to remind everyone to be cautiously aware of what we do.

Initially, today’s world needs to be reminded of our boundaries because although someone may have a clean job life, their online life could be ruinous. Even though someone is in a managerial position, doesn’t mean that they don’t go to bars after work, drink and drive or maybe even do drugs afterwards. But still, when the time comes to do the job, their performance might be perfectly fine. Yet would a boss want to hire and promote someone like that? “Social media is expanding everyone’s digital footprint.” Says Steve Fox from the article, What Your Boss Knows Could Hurt You. This isn’t saying to misbehave and keep it offline, it is saying to be careful all around and to make a positive impression on the boss.

Furthermore, the use of electronics gives people the “safe” feeling that they are allowed to violate rules they might not feel comfortable doing face to face with someone. When teenagers today send inappropriate texts or photos, what percentage of them would do that in front of the recipient? Odds are, not many.
