Social Responsibility for Company Q

Social Responsibility is one of many important functions for a business to be successful. Company Q is only scratching the surface of social responsibility by addressing their economic responsibility for creating jobs, contributing goods, and being profitable. Stores that do not produce a profit are being closed, which creates additional hardships among those that lose their job and those that depended upon the store for groceries. Company Q needs to address all aspects of social responsibility by reviewing their legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities. Below are 3 areas for Company Q to focus on in order to be profitable and increase their level of social responsibility.

The primary stakeholder of Company Q is its customer. Customer satisfaction is vital to the long term health and profitability of a company. It has taken years for Company Q to address the requests of its customers for health-conscious and organic product options. This request was implemented in a marginal sense, with only a very limited selection available to their customers. Company Q should provide a more generous selection of health-conscious foods at a competitive price in order to draw in customers which may otherwise take all their shopping to a competitor’s store.

Company Q suffers from a lack of trust towards their employees. Legal concerns that employees will steal goods and participate in possible fraudulent activities must be addressed by building a corporate ethics program. Company Q’s ethical culture should be established by a creating a code of ethics and the examples set by good leadership. Implementing these values must be a priority as there is a link between business ethics and financial performance.

Lastly, Company Q shall devise a plan to fulfill their philanthropic responsibility by investing in a community outreach program. They could provide those individuals in need with grocery items that would otherwise...
