Reflection Summary

Many different topics were discussed relating to business in the computer field during the first week of this course. One of the interesting things we talked about was Information technology (IT) and Information System (IS). Information technology (IT) allows the storage and processing of information flow within an organization while an Information System (IS) is the collection of technical and human sources that provide storage and later, distribute the information of all or part on the business. This was constructive because, until now, not much attention was given to the entire process in a business. We also found that it is necessary to invest in technology in order to stop outsourcing certain tasks and to save money. Understanding the importance of Information Systems helps organize in order to support the company's strategy for rapid expansion, not forgetting that synchronization in a business is important in order to have success. Finally, the value of Knowledge Workers, because with their experience in their fields they create and transfer information which they integrate into the business altering the way business conducts.

Also collaboration is important in the business world; there are tools that get used in communicating amongst one another in the business and in the personal world. Several tools were identified that work as collaboration channels, such as, video conferencing (Skype), e-mailing (Outlook), and texting, to share amongst co-workers and also our friends and family. This allows multitasking, and having the ability to conduct business without the other members physically present.

Understanding the power of technology is important, and it requires taking advantage of essential tools. Every member of an organization is critical in gathering information and achieving any goal for the success of a business environment.
