Decision Making Process

Recognize the need for a decision:

Decisions are not made causally and illogically as they result from an endeavor to respond to a specific problem, opportunity or need. After completing my school I wanted to start a job with attractive pay package, to support my family. I applied for several jobs at various companies but most of the time I didn’t get any response. One year ago I got calls from small companies, where I had applied. Each one of them offered me unattractive and lowest paying jobs, which I rejected. That was the turning point for me. I was highly disappointed about my career. I analyzed the situation and compare my qualification with the desired jobs’ requirements. My existing education, skills and abilities were too low to even consider for any good job. I had recognized that there was a need for the decision to be made to address the problem in attaining a good job. The problem was my education level which didn’t match with the desired job criteria.

2. Generate alternatives:

I had to look for the range of information to shed light on the options, once I had identified the problem related to my education level that needed a decision. Several options could be generated to resolve the problem. If I went blindly with the first option that came in to my mind (attend a college), then I could miss several opportunities associated with other efficient and promising options. For me, generating numerous alternatives was simpler even than it sound. After recognition of the need, I had two alternatives to address the problem. Those are as follows:

* Attain online diploma

* Join college for the degree program

I could either select online short diploma programs to attain the knowledge and qualification in the shortest time. Or I could go with the college option to attain a proper degree....
