Abstract

This research is about bride kidnapping tradition and people’s view toward it. Bride stealing is existing from an early time in Kazakh culture. However, bride-napping tradition has serious consequences. The major consequence of this tradition is destroying of young people's lives. The main point of this research is to find out major reasons of this tradition and attitude of modern people toward bride abduction. The interviews and surveys which were conducted were helpful to find the main reasons of bride stealing. From the survey of 9 questions it was clear that young generation of women is against this tradition, while most of men are ready to kidnap a girl. The findings of this paper show that usually the reason of abduction is a lack of money (80% of participants).
