Executive Summary

The paper offers insight on various reasons why young women should not consider the military service as a suitable job. It explains various reasons that make the military service unsuitable such as sexual assault, lack of freedom in regards to dressing, automatic placing and transfer that makes it difficult for them to cope with family issues and job requirements. The society also presents a negative perception of women which highly stereotypical and thus curtails their potential in the military service. Finally, the paper offers some key solutions which include government military policies which grad women affairs, freedom of expression and equal treatment in regards to payment and promotion.

Military Service is not the Best Job for Young Women

It is a fact that women have always strived to achieve equality in voting, careers, leadership and in the military service. Surprisingly, the same women face an array of challenges as they work in the military and also through other careers. Although the challenges have been curtailed over time, they persist in the contemporary world and they greatly influence women’s ability to sustain the military service career. Therefore, the military service job is not the best alternative for young women for a number of reasons.

To begin with, the perception of a woman in the society remains a grim limitation for women who wish to join the military service. Women are still viewed as a weaker sex although they have been active in the military service for many years. Women always find it hard to cope with counterpart soldiers who view them as emotional, weak, hormonal and incapable (Devilbiss 5). Women find it hard to work in a place where they rarely receive acknowledgement and respect especially in difficult combat situations.
