This is a case study, documenting a Malaysian university’s implementation of ausing campus Enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for management of “back office” systems. The integrated system comprises of a main module which handles student finance and enrollment administration (academic management), a human resource module, and a university finance module. Knowing the risks and costs of implementing an ERP are high, and knowing that there are no other examples of Malaysian universities going through the process of implementing an ERP, the case study serves to document this institution’s experience. The paper describes that while data on student debt can now be accessed faster, struggles exist with enrollment administration due to the very different processes used by different university departments. There is also a reported resistance to change from the previous manual process of academic management by users and management. This site easily relates to the readings in Chapters 1 and 2 as it describes: the benefits of implementing an ERP, an ERP integration strategy, and a list of critical factors associated with successful ERP implementation.
