Dark Snow

With a curvaceous figure that Venus would have envied, a tanned, unblemished oval face framed with lustrous thick brown hair, deep azure-blue eyes fringed with long black lashed, perfect teeth that vied for competition, and a small straight nose, Marilee has a beauty that defied description. All the guys in the school were after her, and she was after all the guys—girls were jealous of her Barbie-like appearance and did whatever they could to break her down. Marilee was the definition of beauty and perfectionism. Even though she was not a model, the school was her catwalk where she was the center of attention 24/7. Even though she maintained a perfect display of perfectionism, there was always this one girl that she would tower over- Beth. Beth was everything opposite of Marilee: a stout, white-as-snow body, oily blemish-face with straggly curled brown hair, and dark brown eyes that always looked fogged over like muddy water after a rainy day. Beth envied, hated, scorned, detested, and was repulsed by the mere image of Marilee. Every girl envied and sometimes held a grudge toward Marilee, but no one was ever repulsed and hated every aspect of Marilee like Beth. To Beth, Marilee was the very spawn of Satan and her beauty should be looked down upon instead of admired. Marilee did not necessarily bully Beth, but the mere existence of Marilee was a reason for Beth to have a deep hatred toward her. Everywhere Beth went, Marilee was there. After 3 years of going to the same school Beth couldn’t help but notice Marilee’s everyday routine- which seemed to never change. It was the midst of winter when the trees were heavy with snow and the crunching of shoes on layers and layers of snow packed on top of ice was heard through echoing neighborhoods- there was an eerie but tranquil feeling on one winter night.
