Abstract

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder. People who have insomnia have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or both. I have this problem myself and it sucks. It is hard for me to fall asleep and learning about insomnia is helping me find a ways to sleep. Insomnia is cause by situations such as stress at work, family pressures, or a traumatic event. Lots of military personnel have this problem. People with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are the major group that can get insomnia. The term “insomnia” appeared in 1623, was Anglicized as insomnie, from Latin insomnia “wanted of sleep.” (The history of insomnia by sleeping Tamara). The common signs of insomnia are Difficulty falling asleep, waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep, waking up too early in the morning, feeling tired upon waking. Mild insomnia often can be prevented or cured by practicing good sleep habits. If your insomnia makes it hard for you to function during the day, because you are sleepy and tired, your health care provider may prescribe sleeping pills for a limited time as a second choice, but positive thinking, or healthy thinking, is a way to help you stay well or cope with a health problem by changing how you think. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is types of counseling that can help you understand why you have sleep problems and can show you how to deal with them. The original version of Ambien works well at helping you get to sleep, but some people tended to wake up in the middle of the night. That was the medication I was using to help me fall to sleep. It helps you get to sleep within 15 to 30 minutes, and the new extended release portion helps you stay asleep. You should not take Ambien or Ambien CR unless you are able to get a full night's sleep -- at least 7 to 8 hours.
