ABSTRACT

I will attempt to explore how individual personalities and temperaments affect the management style/organizational structures. I will share my views based on three articles read by me. The first article title Are you Smokey the Bear or the forest range: why it takes both personalities to put out fires. The second article title Type and temperament. Each of these articles provides insight into how personalities and temperament affect our job performances.

Are you Smokey the Bear or the forest ranger: why it takes both personalities to put out fires it both the sensor and intuitive personalities. According to the author how an individual gather information determines how he or she react to certain situations. If a person prefers to view situation in a more practical, realistic or literal way he or she more than likely collect or gather data information based on facts and detail which means that their data-gathering preference is that of a sensor.

On the other hand if a person prefer the big picture and looks for other possibilities then he or she data-gathering preference is that of an intuitive. The author point of view in this article is that a person must use both sensor and intuitive personalities because one doesn’t work without the other. One function as information gathering and the other function as team-builders who take a holistic view of operations.

Sensors to face the facts, be realistic and find out exactly what the situation is and what is being done currently, and intuitive to discover all possibilities, look at various ways you might change the situation and proactively prepare for future problems for effective problem solving. Senor type personalities and intuitive type personalities are essential to the problem solving operations of a business. (Svehal, 1994).
