2.0 INTRODUCTION

This chapter gives a summary of the literature that has been researched by other scholars. It involves the strength and limitations of the current system, related work, the proposed system and finally the conclusion.

2.1 A HOTEL AS AN INSTITUTION

Baleleng, (2011) defines a hotel as a commercial establishment that offers lodging to travelers. Some may also offer lodging to permanent residents. Hotels may also have restaurants, conference rooms, stores, and other services that are available to the general public. It can also defined as the place where it provides lodging to the travelers, banquet halls for official parties, offers food to the guests make revenue on the owners point of view

A hotel is a place you stay at for lodgings when you are far from home or other places, to stay at. Usually people stay at hotels when on vacation. It is like a home away from home. It usually offers you a bed, TV, breakfast (optional), bathroom and other necessities for your stay. The more expensive the hotel, the more luxuries they offer. Some hotels also include a pool and/or hot tub. And if you’re lucky, even a mini waterpark!

Hotel operations vary in size, function, and cost. Most hotels and major hospitality companies have set industry standards to classify hotel types. An upscale full-service hotel facility offers luxury amenities, full service accommodations, on-site full service restaurants, and the highest level of personalized service. Full service hotels often contain upscale full-service facilities with a large volume of full service accommodations, on-site full service restaurants, and a variety of on-site amenities. Boutique hotels are smaller independent non-branded hotels that often contain upscale facilities. Small to medium-sized hotel establishments offer a limited amount of on-site amenities.
