A CHILD WITH NO LOVE & CARE

Some may say child mortality is cruel,

Some may say child mortality is something society got addicted to.

Child mortality is like a rose being trampled on the ground,

But what child mortality really is, is worth not making a sound,

A moment of silence for all those who have drawn and drowned.

Child mortality is the death of a child before its fifth birthday,

This doesn’t sound good, does it? But the impact of negativity has won.

Factors which contribute to child mortality may be:

Malnutrition caused by an unbalanced diet, child abuse, even alternative care,

Unwanted pregnancy, having a child at a young age,

The mother’s education attainment and literacy are correlated with age of pregnancy,

A brick may be able to be better parent than a young mother.

There is alternative care for children not wanted+ or not cared for by parents,

Kinship care; which is family- based care within the child’s extended family

Kinship is already taking place all over the Caribbean.

Foster care; which are situations where children are placed by a complement

With government authorization in various countries in the Caribbean.

For those lucky ones whom may have gone through tragedy,

Overcame and survived child mortality, may not be so lucky.

A child not being properly cared for may have issues,

Social, physical and mostly mental issues.

Socially, when a child is not cared for properly

And is not grown up in a diligent, delicate way,

They tend to not interact with others in the way they should,

Or they do not interact at all.

They tend to treat others and everything around them as they were treated

In the exact, cruel, vicious and wicked manner,

Whereby they obtain minimum or no friends and associates,

Therefore they end up alone by their self, with no one to rely on,
