Gate, this service that thousands of persons have relied on for years, both students and parents would be impacted by the loose of such a service. Many persons have depend on this reputable service, to carry them through all the levels of tertiary education. I ask the question, what would be the impact of the government abolishing GATE? The thought of the government planning to abolish GATE, brings a lot of thoughts to my mind. Firstly there would be lower education rates in the country. There would less jobs for lectures and teachers. Many students would not be able to afford the expensive costs of tuition which would cause school drop outs and low education rates as persons would not be able to sustain to pay for tuition by themselves.

Many students would not be able to afford to pay for GATE as the cost of tuition is exorbitant, which would be troublesome for many persons to afford. Leading to only a fraction of the population being able or willing to remunerate tuition. Persons who genuinely want to gain a tertiary education would not be able to afford the privilege of GATE funded education. GATE funding would allow any Trinidadian or Tobagonian citizens of any race, age, gender and financial standing the opportunity to “free” education, which would be the stepping stone to their choice of a career in the future.

High attrition rates both persons who are excelling and not doing so well in school, can be both affected by “school dropout” as they would not be able to keep up with the cost . This can be very burdensome to families, as they would have to source alternative ways to afford their loved ones to attend school. Which can be a very unfortunate situation as not everyone would be able to afford schooling forcing persons to dropout. School dropout can vastly affect the entire nation in another way, “ as the devil would find ways for idle hands” those who do not find ethical jobs, would be tempted to interact into unethical jobs such as robbery, murder...
