Outsourcing photography can have both advantages and disadvantages. Much of the result depends on the actual photographer that the photography is outsourced to. The disadvantages of outsourcing photography however, are what every owner of any photography should be concerned about. Some of the disadvantages of outsourcing photography can be extra or hidden costs, Confidentiality and security issues and bad publicity or the loss of jobs. These are just a few of the disadvantages associated with outsourcing photography. While there are disadvantages there are also advantages with outsourcing photography. The advantages of outsourcing photography can be no time wasted, access to experience and professionalism, and return on investment. These are just a few of the advantages associated with outsourcing photography.

Extra or hidden costs is a disadvantage of outsourcing photography that can be very detrimental for the owner of the photography. A way to stay away from this would be to look over any contractual agreements with a company or studio and look for anything that may have to do with any possible hidden fees or incentives that the company or studio could possibly walk away with. A company can sign a quote or contract with a studio but the possibility still remains that something may not go right.

Confidentiality and security issues are a disadvantage of outsourcing photography that many have to always be concerned about. A great example of this has to do with sexually explicit photographs. Sometimes these photographs land in the wrong hands where the companies look to gain a profit by leaking confidential photos in order for financial gain. It’s very important that the photographer is very mindful of this when outsourcing any material.
