Late last month Jakks' costume making subsidiary, Disguise Inc., signed a new licensing deal with DreamWorks Animation. The DreamWorks deal will give Disguise the right to sell Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Casper, Shrek, and VeggieTales costumes for Halloween 2015.

The DreamWorks properties will be added to Jakks' impressive lineup of licensed toy deals that includes Nintendo (Mario Brothers), Power Rangers, DC Universe (Superman and Batman), Star Wars, Disney Princess, and more. DreamWorks, like Disney (NYSE: DIS), gives Jakks an impressive amount of free advertising through its movies and videos.

Star Wars Pays Off for Disney and Could Pay Off for Jakks

Star Wars in particular looks like a surefire hit for Disney; the first showing of the new animated movie Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion attracted 6.5 million viewers worldwide on the Disney Channel and Disney HD on October 3, according to Variety. The entertainment newspaper noted that the film premiere of a new animated series was seen by 1.3 million kids aged 2-11 in the United States. It was seen by a further 1.8 million kids in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Canada. Star Wars is attracting a huge amount of attention even without the much hyped new movie in theaters.
