The VA Hospital is the largest integrated healthcare system in the U.S. The RN of VA Hospital may choose between four career paths which are clinical, advanced practice, supervisory/administrative and consultative. The healthcare organization provides clinical rotations to one out of every four RNs in the country. There are several internal strengths of VA hospital. These strengths are related to the resources and capabilities that effective and efficiently allow an organization to accomplish its mission statement. VA Hospital has over 1700 sites of care around the world. All of the medical centers provide traditional services such as surgery, critical care, mental health, orthopedics and outpatient services. The healthcare organization has a superior location and geographic advantage in the community.

Another strength is that there is a 12 month residency program for new graduates and clinical nurse leader roles. The VA Hospital has great management and consulting services (VA, 2014).VA Hospital has several advanced academic and teaching hospitals. This hospital is affiliated with a medical school and the medical students receive training. VA Hospital has great financial resources to pay for the best specialists, nurses and management team that will keep this organization performance high. VA Hospital is the largest employer of RNs in the country. VA Hospital specializes in transplant, open heart and neurosurgery. VA has a good reputation and everyone that goes there receive good treatment. The staff is very friendly and loves to help care for the patient needs. VA has experience with treating patients that need these services or treatments.

There are several internal weaknesses of the VA Hospital. The VA Hospital has poor management skills which had led to high turnover in the workplace.
