Staffing Levels

1. Tanglewood should focus on acquiring employees that possess the skills and knowledge to work in the retail industry. They should then train these people so they align with Tanglewoods culture, ideas, and goals.

2. Tanglewood should hire themselves so they have a direct hand in finding people who are a fit for the company. This ensures they will be able to uphold the existing values that are strongly engrained within Tanglewood.

3. Tanglewood should hire internally for Management roles. By promoting within, managers will be more knowledgeable about the company and will already have the core values instilled within them. Lower level employees can be hired externally and given the proper training to uphold the company’s beliefs.

4. Tanglewood should maintain a core workforce. It is hard to maintain and uphold values with temporary employees who rotate in and out. Permanent employees have a bond with the company and will better uphold the beliefs and core values.

5. Tanglewood should retain their employees. Company culture is important for the overall well-being of the company. Employees need to feel valued and feel secure in their jobs to perform at their best. A high turnover rate would lower moral, and would compromise the company’s values and do little to fix the problem at hand.

6. Tanglewood should go with a national strategy. They are based and located in the United States, so it would be more beneficial for them to remain national.
