Reflection Paper 1

I. Introduction
I have learned and it has been brought back to my attention about what it means to be a
Christian in a world that many people and societies go against the religion. Over the past few
weeks, I have been thinking about the two topics that I would discuss in my first reflection
paper for Theology 104. The first topic, Grace; I feel that we as humans on this earth experience
grace every day that we live. Why do we have Grace? The second topic, Character
Development; as we get older and go through life, we are taught to see what is right and what is
wrong; that is in most cases. Do we learn the right way and do what is right?
II. Grace
a. Theological Definition – The free favor or gift of God that humans experience when they are
born again through salvation. When a person experiences Gods grace, people know that they
have experienced His grace because of what they feel. It compels them to a supernatural high if
you will. It is something that a person cannot describe, unless they have experienced it.
Somebody on this earth is discovering Gods grace every day.
b. Biblical Foundation - According to the Bible, there is nothing anybody on this earth can do to
earn grace. That is, they can’t work for it, can’t earn it by doing God favors, and they can’t buy
it. The Scripture does talk about grace in the book of Ephesians. In Chapter 2 of that book, it
says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God”
(Ephesians 2:8). Humbling oneself before God will help them experience that grace. From
what I have read and learned, every living person on this earth has the opportunity to have Gods
grace. In the book of Galatians, there are a couple of verses that talk about grace. “Grace...
