According to the text book, salvation is only available through the grace of God, and not through our works as many cults believe.  If works do not provide salvation, then what role do they play in the Christian life?

In an effort to improve and disregard Christianity, religious cults and every other religion have wrongly interpreted the Word of God by teaching that one must “do good works” to receive salvation. Watching the family members homes, who are members of a religious cult, Jehovah’s Witnesses, spend hours passing our tracts and visiting makes one appreciate a personal walk with God that is not based upon works. In Matt 7:22-23 Jesus rejects the works one does to obtain salvation, since the good works a Christian engage in should be a sign as a result of love and faithfulness as a disciple. Hindson pointed, “Every religion in the world except one says you must work your way to God. Only biblical Christianity says God has worked His way to you.”[1] One’s response to the occult’s supernaturalism one must trust God and no lean own one’s own understanding of information (Prov 3:5-6). The deceptive attempts that play on the lack of knowledge held by Christians can create fear and cause believers to implement unnecessary plans of action. Trust in the Lord and continue to follow Biblical principles on the matter. Walker warns that “The occult is ultimately a temptation not to trust God but instead, place faith in other spiritual powers and supernatural sources.”[2]

Christians must be aware of media venues used in a natural respect to disprove Christianity, such as the Jesus Seminar, scholarly critics attempting to share new truths and reject historical data in the Bible. Salvation by the grace of God only through faith is the Biblical principle for Christians regardless of denominational preference. Salvation is a gift from and controlled by God.
