In just two years and two months I will be graduating from Ashford University with my Bachelor Degree in Child Development. With me obtaining my degree I have the career goal of as a Child Social Worker working with children from troubled homes, working in a group home, or even a juvenile detention center.

Understanding the nature of families and children in relation to society is important for this profession. In order to do what I plan on doing later in life I need to understand everything from infancy to adulthood. Children move through a series of stages in which they confront conflicts between family and social expectations. Social workers never pretend to know it all. Social workers have found some things helpful like the past encourages the present and future and the concept of defense mechanisms.

I will have to have knowledge of socialization and the different aspects of it because if I have no knowledge then I will fail in my career. I will be of no use to any child who needs any help. I have to understand that socialization converts a person and nobody is born social. Socialization is the values, ideals, and objectives of life. Socialization is social learning. Understanding socialization helps a social worker understand an individual and how that person live their life according to social expectations. The process of socialization assists social workers to learn the norms associated with roles and also develop appropriate attitudes to enact the roles.

The impact of understanding the knowledge of the theories of socialization will be great on my career of a Social Worker. I need to understand everything and what I do not understand I will have to research until I do because without having the understanding of it I will certainly fail any child I would attempt to help in life.
