Abstract

Ethics refers to standards of behavior that tell us how human beings ought to act in the many situations in which we find ourselves; relationships that we develop as friends, parents, children, citizens, businesspeople, teachers, professionals, and so forth. An ethical decision refers to an individual’s personal standards of what’s right and what’s wrong. Making decisions can be hard enough but when an individual has to consider ethics, it can make the decision much more difficult. Ethical decision making affects more than our working life; ethical decision making doesn’t necessarily mean following the law either. This paper will define qualities and characteristics that make an ethical decision or issue ethical; and identify the differences between ethical/non-ethical and ethical/unethical. It will also examine ethical dilemmas that I, personally, have experienced in the workplace and present any ethical issues or dilemmas currently being discussed at school.

He wanted to join the military...
