1. General description of site.

The site, “The Earth’s Atmosphere”, opens with a good interactive staged animation that represents the different layers of the atmosphere well. It allows for the reader to add or take away from the information that is present on the diagram itself. Then it has two separate links that the bottom of the diagram that redirects the reader to different portions of the same website.

The “Diagrams” link looks and reads more at a higher level. There are links to even more portions that explain more about each given topic. It is broken down into weather sections that pertain to different aspects of human interaction with the environment.

On the other side, “Earthguide” seems a little bit more user friendly and catches the eye a bit more with more pictures and a variety of color and videos. Some of the articles and links seem to be a little more interesting upon reading the titles.

2. Credibility of site including: Author and/or sponsor of site, currency of information, and accuracy of information.

The sites are developed/sponsored by the Geosciences Research Division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. All portions seem to have been updated as of 2013. However, there are some of the resources that date back to the early 2000s. Since I am new to meteorology, I cannot attest as to whether or not the information is correct or not. However, it does track decently to what we are seeking for this course.

3. Why you think it’s the best site.

This site simply appealed to me the best at first and after going through it I thought that it presented the information well and had the best chance of attracting the most attention from a wider base of viewers. Also, it seemed to be one of the better done websites. The Atmospheric Structure site had a great presentation made up, but I feel as though it was more geared to younger children or teenagers. “The Earth’s Atmosphere” had that, but it also had appeal to...
