BSBA-3 MRKM 4-A

For each of the following situation, evaluate the salesperson's actions and indicate what you think the appropriate action would be:

1. In an electronics store, salespeople are offered an extra PhP3000.00 for each HDTV models that are being closed out. The manufacturer is offering an extra spiff (push money or special promotion incentive fund), and the managers are aware of it. Salespeople though, are encouraged to not mention either the spiff or the fat that these are close out deals.

In my own opinion, salespeople did not need to mention the spiff. They don’t have to do it just to get sales because this issue is between the manufacturer and the company. All they have to do is to focus on convincing and closing deals with the customers.

2. A customer asks if you can remove a safety feature because it slows down the operators of the equipment.

In the business world, the company must always do what its customer wants but in this matter, I will explain first to the customer what the consequences are if I remove he safety feature because it might affect the equipment and it might disappoint him. So, I’ll explain and it’s up to him if he still wants it to be removed.

3. A few months after joining a company, you learn about a credit card that gives you a 20% cash refund on malls at certain restaurants. You get the card and start taking clients to restaurants offering the rebate, pocketing the rebate.

I’m sort of torn between telling or not but I think, I might not tell the customers first because there are many things that will be affected if I tell them like:

a. The company- it will get bad image and I don’t want it to happen because of me.

b. My work- I’ve been working for a few months only. I don’t think I have the right to do it.

c. Customer-Seller relationship will be affected because the customers will lose their trust to the company if they knew about it.
