Special Object Presentation
Some people have to buy their special objects, but I was able to experience first-hand of finding mine. Many peoples objects are small, large, a photo, or something that symbolizes a special memory, person, or place in their lives. This sand dollar represents so many of those parts of my life.
As you can tell the sand dollar is round, grayish-white, and has distinct designs on the top and bottom. If the sand dollar is opened there appears to be three doves on the inside. The sand dollar is a living creature that can be found on the ocean floor, and when found alive, it feels like it is covered with velvet. The design on top of the sand dollar that looks like a flower is where some of its tube feet are located, and its mouth is located at the bottom.
This sand dollar represents family memories and a place that I share the love of with my deceased brother. This sand dollar was actually found the summer of 2004, when most of my family went to Florida. This was a huge trip since we were all staying at my aunt and uncles house. There were a total of 13 of us that went, six adults and seven kids. We were all in one house with 2 bedrooms, can we say very cramped. To relieve some stress from the adults and kids, I would take my nieces, nephews, and daughters out to the car and would turn on the CD player to the song “Cotton Eyed Joe”, we would sit and act goofy just to get in a better mood. We went to Clearwater Beach one afternoon to relax, and was playing in the water when my husband started picking up sand dollars. Oh the joy of watching my daughters, nieces, and nephews helping to pick them up and thinking we were rich, due to the name “sand dollar”. This sand dollar also represents a place that I share love with my best friend, my brother. I lost my brother in October of last year. My brother and I both loved the beach, it was our escape, serenity, and the place that we felt most peaceful and stress free at. My brother...
