Summary

“Why Read Books Anymore?” written by seventh and eighth grade teacher Dean Schneider, shares that students read more when they pick their own books. However, he still assigns a group book in order for the students to “slow down, look closely, and consider important ideas about life” (par. 4). With technology and heavy scheduling getting in the way of kids reading, setting time aside in class is a viewed as major benefit.
