Intel Company Profile

Intel is a firm that is the leader in its field and they are extremely well positioned for the future. Their stock price is solid, their most direct and threatening competitor are faltering and they have their tentacles extended into all corners of the computing industry. However, Intel is not completely in control and any amount of complacency can kill a company or at least lessen its performance, especially over time. What follows in this report is a summary of Intel’s history, its products, its major competitors, and a summary of the current market conditions, a SWOT analysis and a focus on at least three of the SWOT points of analysis. While things always go wrong for Intel, they are doing the important things right at present and they will be fine so long as this continues into the future.

Analysis

Intel has not always been the giant in the computer processor industry. Intel has not even been around a half a century, as they were founded in 1968, and the amount of growth and progress they have made themselves and also allowed others to make has been seismic. They provide the processors for both of the major strains of computers on the market, those being PC’s and Apple computers, and they are strong while their direct competitor, that being Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is faltering. In total, Apple has about 105,600 employees and they have a management team that tops out in age at 64 while the youngest, the President, is 49 years old. Indeed, all five of the major executives make close to $2 million USD per year in salary. Based on the performance, they have earned it (Yahoo, 2014).

As noted before, AMD is Intel’s primary competitor but Texas Instruments is also on the horizon. However, AMD has a scant 10,000 employees with $5.86 billion in revenue and Texas Instrument is not much better at $12.8 billion. Samsung makes processors too and their revenue is $215.09 billion.
