1. There are a variety of different possible reasons that may account for the wide differences among salaries for different occupations. Looking at this list I see a direct correlation between the amount of schooling or training necessary for the job and the salary. Out of the seven occupations listed, a lawyer requires the most amount of school and it also has the highest median salary. A construction laborer, however, which requires a minimal amount of schooling or training outside of the job has the lowest median salary.

2. One of the main factors that may account for the difference among salaries for the identical occupation in the same organization is experience and seniority. If two people are hired at the same time but ones has five years of experience doing a similar job while the other has no experience, the employee with the experience will most likely get paid more money than the employee with no experience. Seniority is another factor that may go into the difference in pay. An employee who has been with a company for 20 years will most likely be paid for then an employee who is new to the company even if they are doing the same job.

3. The biggest factor that might account for the differences among salaries for the identical occupation in different organizations are the salary budgets of the specific organizations. The money supply to pay employees is not endless, so companies can only pay their employees what they can afford to pay them. If an employee is working at a multi-million dollar company, they will probably get paid more than an employee doing the same exact job at a company that just started up.
