My passion for pharmacy comes directly from my father; he has been running a pharmaceutical business since I was a child. My father always talked some interesting topics in this area with me, such as the development of the pharmaceutical industry in China and in the world, although I did not understand much of the jargon when I was young. In senior high school, as my reading and understanding ability advanced, I began to pay close attention to news and reports in this area and read relevant periodicals and books. Consequently, it was no surprise that I chose pharmaceutics without hesitation as my major upon acceptance to China Pharmaceutical University (CPU).
Thanks to the excellent education and training in pharmacy provided by China’s topmost pharmaceutical university, I had the opportunity to be exposed to a full range of pharmaceutical courses, all of which reinforced and solidified my intense interest in pharmacy. While taking the course of Pharmaceutical Analysis, I learned the analytical methods for many compounds. I was able to skillfully operate many instrumental analysis apparatuses, including IR, UV-VIS, GC, HPLC, fluorescence spectrometer, and capillary electrophoresis. Another of my favorite courses was Pharmaceutics. What I learned in this course not only taught me how to prepare a better dosage form for different drugs, but also provided me with insight into the most recent progresses in this research area.
Armed with a high standard of training in basic theories and applied technologies, I have actively engaged in a variety of research activities. During my sophomore year, I was elected to be the group leader of a science program called “The preparation of core-shell Ag@porous-SiO2 nanoparticle and its antibacterial application.” For the first time, I realized the importance of preliminary studies and task distribution for a research project. In the first stage, we reviewed a vast amount of references and had intensive discussions with master’s...
