I. Introduction

A. Leaders are not born; they are made through hard work, diligence, and dedication. They portray ethics and values and act as role model.

B. Defining what it takes to be an effective and efficient leader.

C. The leader I have chosen for this project is J. Edgar Hoover. He was the director of the FBI for forty-eight years. During the forty-eight years as director he was in charge of apprehending big named criminals like John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd (Cecil 2011 p 269).

D. Leadership is a learned trait that is available to anyone who is willing to be a leader. Anyone can achieve a leadership role by having principles and ethical behavior

E. Understanding what it takes to be an effective leader and the characteristics a good leader possesses.

II. Digital Forensics is the program that I am in and I intend to be a detective

A. I have always been intrigued with police work and the solving of crimes. Police officers and detectives risk their life on a daily basis to keep people safe from crime. I work as a correctional officer now and have seen the criminal aspect; I want to get in the field of law enforcement and help solve crimes.

B. I expect to complete this program May of 2015.

C. The strengths and skills that I need to be a successful detective are honesty, good communication skills, the confidence to be able to complete the job, commitment to solving the crime, a positive attitude, and intuition.

III. Characteristics of an effective leader

A. An effective leader is one that can achieve as well as set challenging goals. They are able to make a decisive decision without being stressed out. The leader is able to take risks even though they may fail. The attributes an effective leader portrays are self-confidence, the ability to embrace change, and good communication skills (Baggetta...
