Law As A Living Body

In order for us to consider law as a living body, one must take into account of how our laws are made and what these laws are based on. When our country was first founded, our fathers made a document called the constitution and made laws according to this document. It based laws on the freedoms that the constitution gave us in that pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All these laws must be constitutional in America, but a lot has changed since the early days of our country. Many more people from all walks of life make up this country and when our first laws were made, only white men had power and owned property. If our laws and the document that the laws are based on could not be changed, then many living in this country would not have the same rights as those who first wrote these laws. As humans change in time, so do our laws and the constitution these laws were founded on. To me, this is the very essence of our laws living as a living body. I am a big movie and television fan and watch a lot of shows that have a law based plot, such as Law and Order, or A Time To Kill. These programs have police, lawyers, judges, and such battling it out in an hour or two and no matter what, justice seems to prevail in that time frame. It would be nice to see our system work like we see on the silver screen, but we should know our laws are more complex and are enforced and carried out by interpretation and action.
