When preparing of a test I usually start studying the information about a week before the test. This allows me enough time to properly prepare for a test well giving me the opportunity to retain the information for future use. When studying I use flash cards to learn the required information. This method can be beneficial when I am learning key phrases or words. I am able to retain the information a lot easier because I can connect what I am learning to words or ideas. The memory method I use is the Linking Method. When I am studying or even learning new information I try to apply the information to something else, so I can have a better understand of the information and to retain it. By using this method this allows me to retain this information by having cue triggers that previously connect the information to. This makes it easier to reference back in my mind to connect the information together to find a correct answer.

While taking a test I usually read all the questions first then answer any question that I am confident that I know the answer to. This allows me to gain confidence and motivation during the test by answering question I know the answer to. By using this strategy I am able to take the test with confidence and this allows me to use my time during the test efficiently. I can use my time efficiently because I will spend less time on answer I know and more time on answer that are more difficult for me to answer. After viewing the course materials I will try to take five minute to survey the test information. Although I scan and read my test before I begin, taking time to survey the test before I run through it will allow me together my thought and trigger any cue from surveying the test. You may think that both of these methods are the same, but in fact when you survey the test information this gives you a general idea of what to expect.
