History: To Never be Forgotten

Natural Disasters have been happening since before our time, since the world was created from a natural disaster when a meteor hit the earth and creating new life on earth. Its only recently that the disasters have been getting worse. As Micheal talks about in an article on helping disasters, “natural disasters are becoming more intense and frequent lately around the world” (Assistance, para 1). The records from a graph shown on a website describing number of events and the amount of damage taken also prove that in all history the natural disasters are only becoming more worse. In 2005 5 events happened in just the United states and the amount of damage from the events peaked over 150 billion dollars. On the same website the graph shows “Damages between 2000 and 2009 increased 82% over the previous 10 year period” (Finding Hope, para 2). Since in recent years have been building up I found one natural disaster that was one of the biggest earthquake recorded, “The earthquake off the coast of Japan on March 11, 2011 was one of the biggest recorded, measuring 9 on the richter scale.” (Shah, Japan Earthquake). Epidemics like the one in Japan will have a long time to recover from as an article says “ The ability to recover will depend on the populations resiliency and the funds available to restart life as it should go on a daily basis.”(Assistance, para 2). Natural Disasters take a huge role on those who are in the area of one happening. Even though the Natural Disaster events have been happening more and more, the lost of lives have been decreasing since we became more aware of how and why these events happen. As Micheal Evans talks about in his article on natural disasters comparing a Hurricane that took place compared to a Hurricane that had happened over 1000 years ago.

“Hurricane Katrina struck the states of Louisiana and Mississippi in August 2008. 1,836 people died as a result and overall damage was estimated as exceeding $100...
